Sunita Sharma, Attorney at Law
Sunita Sharma graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She received her law degree from the University of Denver College of Law in 1997. During her tenure at Denver University College of Law, Ms. Sharma served as a junior partner in the Lawyering Process Course taught at the University from 1995-1997. She was a staff member of the Preventative Law Journal and authored the article “Colorado’s Governmental Immunity Act – Employees not so Immune” published in the Spring 1997 issue.
Ms. Sharma began her career as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Greeley, Colorado, practicing as a criminal prosecutor and also handling both state and federal civil litigation cases. She has also served as an Assistant City Attorney for Loveland, Colorado, with an emphasis in administrative law, transactional work, and representation of boards and commissions at public hearings. Ms. Sharma has also practiced in the private sector with an emphasis in civil litigation, family law, landlord tenant law and municipal law.
Ms. Sharma served as Municipal Judge for the Town of Gilcrest, Colorado, from 2005-2007. She currently serves a Deputy Municipal Judge for the City of Greeley, Colorado. She has served as an adjunct instructor at the Institute of Business and Medical Careers; Is former President of the Weld County Bar Association as well as the Byron White Inns of Court; She has served as a Commissioner in the 19th Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance and the Weld County Juvenile Review Board. Ms. Sharma has additionally served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children, and as a Board member of the Larimer County Bar Association. She has served as a Board Member of Union Colony Preparatory Charter School in Greeley, Colorado. She currently serves as a regional coordinator of the Northern Colorado Mock Trial Tournament and as a chair of the Colorado Supreme Court Law Committee and a member of the Colorado Supreme Court Advisory Committee.
Ms. Sharma currently practices in Greeley, Colorado, serving Boulder, Larimer and Weld Counties. Her primary areas of practice include municipal law, estate planning and personal injury.
